REVIEWS

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard is a fruit-driven, more charming, and ready-to-drink effort than the bigger, structured, denser, yet more impressive 2013. Nevertheless, it does offer copious quantities of black currant fruit, licorice, a touch of baking spices and earth. It is medium to full-bodied and best drunk over the next 12-15 years."

— Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

"Plum, black cherry, lavender, cloves and spices are front and center in the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a rare case where the 2014 is richer and deeper than the 2013. The tannins need time to soften, but that should not be an issue given that the wine won't be released until 2017."

— Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon looks like a winner with candied, ripe, macerated jammy black cherry and black currant notes intermixed with notions of licorice, new oak and smoky, barbecued meat. Full-bodied, rich, explosively fruity, appealing and lush, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years."

—  Robert Parker - Wine Advocate #209

“The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with juicy red berries, flowers, spices and new leather. Round and totally expressive, the 2010 boasts gorgeous richness and depth. Even though the firm 2010 tannins are present, this is one of the juicier, flashier wines of the year. As such, it should drink well with minimum cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.”

—  Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate #204

“Dark red berries, flowers, anise, graphite and spices are some of the nuances that flow from the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. Despite the initial radiance and sweetness of the fruit, there is plenty of underling structure and sheer power here. This is another fabulous effort from Chris Phelps. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.”

—  Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate #198

“The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful, understated wine graced with expressive red berries, flowers, spices and licorice. There is lovely purity and finesse to be found in this generous, inviting wine. The firm 2008 tannin that marks so many wines in this vintage is nowhere to be found. I suppose there is no substitute for working many of the best vineyards in Napa Valley. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.”

— Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate #198

“2008 Ad Vivum
Taut, firm and focused, showing a mix of mineral, dried currant, herb and cedar flavors. This is full-bodied, turning supple midpalate, and ending with complex notes. Best to cellar. Best from 2012 through 2021.”

—  Jim Laube - Wine Spectator, Nov. 2010

“2007 Ad Vivum

The dark ruby-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon offers sweet aromas of cherries, black currants and hints of spice and oak in the background. This medium-bodied Cabernet offers a graceful display of red and black fruits, excellent depth and moderate tannin. It should hit its peak in 2-3 years and last for 10-12.”

—  Robert Parker - Wine Advocate #192

“2007 Ad Vivum
Supple, fleshy, elegant and stylish, showing a layered mix of plum, black cherry and cranberry, with touches of spice and tobacco. Full bodied and complex, gaining body and depth on the finish, where the flavors unfold to reveal touches of herb and mineral. Drink now through 2017."

— Jim Laube - Wine Spectator, Nov. 2010
